On November 8, 2016, Arkansas voters approved Issue 6, which legalizes medical marijuana. Issue 6, the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment of 2016, will allow patients with at least one qualifying condition to obtain and use medical marijuana with a doctor approval.
The law will allow for to eight marijuana cultivation facilities and up to 40 dispensaries. The Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Division will regulate the medical marijuana industry. Home cultivation is not allowed.
Arkansas’ medical marijuana program is expected to begin in early 2017.
