Medical Marijuana Legalization Will Be on Arkansas Ballot This November

AR Marijuana Use

The Arkansas Secretary of State has announced that medical marijuana legalization will be on the November ballot. The measure required 68,000 valid signatures to be included on the ballot and the state has already verified 10,000 signatures more than required.

Voters have mixed opinions on the issue, KSPR ABC 33 News reports. The measure is called the Arkansas Medical Cannabis Act and is organized by Arkansans for Compassionate Care. Patients would be required to obtain a prescription from their in-state medical provider before applying for a medical marijuana license.

One voter, Harley Turner is in support of medical marijuana. He said, “I think it would be a positive thing for the state to introduce. There’s a lot of advancements in the science behind it. Obviously helping people all across the United States.”

A second medical marijuana referendum is also up for discussion and is attempting to get on the November ballot.
