New Poll Shows Arkansas Voters Are Split on Medical Marijuana

Arkansas Medical Marijuana Law

Following the disqualification of one medical marijuana ballot measure in Arkansas, voters appear split on Issue 6, the remaining medical marijuana ballot measure. Results of a poll conducted by the University of Arkansas, for the annual Arkansas Poll, show that only 49 percent of likely Arkansas voters support medical marijuana legalization.

The poll also shows that 47 percent of likely voters are clearly opposed to medical marijuana and another 4 percent remain undecided, according to Arkansas Online. 800 potential Arkansas voters were polled between October 18 and October 27.

The passage of Issue 6 would allow Arkansas residents with severe illnesses, those with diagnosed qualifying conditions, to purchase medical marijuana from licensed and regulated dispensaries.

Four years ago, when medical marijuana was brought to the voters in Arkansas, it was only narrowly defeated.
