Arkansas Dept of Health Preparing for Medical Marijuana Program Rules

Cannabis Arkansas

Issue 6 went into effect 30 days after Election Day, although dispensaries aren’t open yet in Arkansas because the Department of Health does have to establish rules for the program. This even involves how and when to issue medical marijuana cards for qualified patients.

Regulations for tracking dispensaries and when applications for dispensaries and cultivation facilities will be made are part of a timeline for public view, according to KNWA. The Department of Health will post the timeline on its website within the next few weeks, which will allow the general public to know when to expect updates.

The state is implementing an informational call-line to help educate residents. Residents can call 501-661-2367 to receive periodic updates on progress, regulation and other general medical marijuana-related information.

No dates have been given yet regarding when applications will be taken for business permits, dispensary ownership, patient registration or any other application process yet.
