Arkansas Senate Votes Down Medical Marijuana Smoking Ban

Arkansas Drugs

For the second time, the Arkansas Senate has rejected a bill that would ban the smoking of medical marijuana. Passing the bill would have gone against the will of Arkansas voters who approved the initiative that would allow the use of medical marijuana.

On Monday, the Senate voted 15 – 11 to reject the constitutional amendment change, according to Arkansas Online. In order to make it to the Arkansas House, it would have needed 24 ‘yes’ votes.

Lawmakers aren’t done trying to make changes to the voter-approved initiative though. There are still several bills being discussed.

Applications for dispensaries will be accepted beginning in July.
