Arkansas Approves Marijuana Cultivation Facility and Dispensary Rules

Arkansas Marijuana Dispensary

Final approval was given to the rules for cultivators and dispensaries in Arkansas. The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission has submitted the approved regulations for review by local lawmakers. Lawmakers have to put the regulations into effect by May 8.

One key change to the rules says that at least 60-percent of cultivation facilities and dispensaries must be owned by Arkansas residents, according to THV 11 News.  Some believe that requiring a residence-majority ownership policy may make some waves. As long as this last step goes through without any additional hang-ups, applications for business licenses will open on July 1.

There are no provisions in place stating how much of a company an in-state owner must have. That is likely to be a discussion of interest that may require additional changes to the already approved guidelines.
