Arkansas Officials Expect Over 20,000 to Apply for Medical Marijuana Cards

State Marijuana Law

Officials in Arkansas report that they expect between 20,000 and 40,000 to apply for medical marijuana cards. Robert Brech, lawyer for the state’s Health Department, says that the costs of operation for the program should be $1.5 million in the next year. It hasn’t been set in stone yet, but medical marijuana cards are expected to cost $50.

Residents will need a state-issued driver’s license or ID along with their recommendation to apply, according to 4029 TV News. Those interested in growing medical marijuana or operating a dispensary will be able to submit applications soon.

Rules for the state’s program, along with regulations for testing and labeling products, have been drawn up. The proposed rules must be approved by the legislative subcommittee before moving forward on final approval.
