Arkansas Begins Accepting Applications for Medical Marijuana

Arkansas Medical Marijuana Card Law

Arkansas residents with a medical marijuana qualifying condition can begin the medical marijuana card application process. Applicants should also be aware that cards will not be mailed to approved patients until 30-days before medical marijuana becomes legal in the state. Dispensaries are not expected to be open until early 2018.

Annual renewals for all medical marijuana patients will be required, according to THV 11 News. If Caregivers for medical marijuana patients must be approved by the state.

The requirements include a written certification from a licensed doctor. The doctor must complete the state’s required medical marijuana physician written certification forms. Other requirements include a valid Arkansas driver’s license or state-issued identification and payment of a $50 fee.

Patients and caregivers must submit their applications to the Arkansas Department of Health directly.

  • Glaucoma
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Hepatitis C
  • ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease
  • Tourette’s syndrome
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • PTSD
  • Severe arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • A chronic or debilitating disease that produces: intractable pain, cachexia or wasting syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, severe nausea, seizures, severe or persistent muscle spasms
