Arkansas Medical Marijuana Business Application Submittal Deadline Is Sept 18

In preparation for Arkansas’ medical marijuana business application deadline, several applicants started a line at the Department of Finance and Administration a dat before the deadline. The deadline to submit an application for one of the 5 cultivation and 32 dispensary licenses is today, Sept 18.

The interest in obtaining a medical marijuana business permit has vastly grown over the past couple of weeks, according to Arkansas Matters. As of September 15, the state had already received 52 dispensary license applications and 19 cultivator license applications. One applicant and his partners, Jeff Rasor, applied for both licenses.

Scott Hardin of the Arkansas Dept. of Finance and Administration said, “We really anticipate that Monday is going to be an extremely busy day. The application is not something you bring up in a notebook, it’s something you bring up on a dolly. There is fierce competition. And, you can sense it in the air as people bring these applications in. They’re definitely excited.”

Rasor said, “So then we got a little nervous, right? Thinking Monday’s the day. And so you review it and let’s say in 600 pages you missed one thing. Well if you don’t get it back ’till Monday afternoon, it’s over.”

After today, the commission has to get busy scoring the applications. The applicants scoring the highest, based upon the state’s requirements and application merit, will be granted the available licenses.
