First Arkansas Medical Marijuana Dispensary Gets Approval to Open

The first Arkansas medical marijuana is finally allowed to open. Doctor’s Orders RX in Hot Springs will be open very soon, but it may take a little longer for them to have medicine available. The dispensary expects to be open by the middle of the month.

BOLD Team cultivation facility in Cotton Plant expects to have its first harvest of medicine ready this week, according to UA Little Rock Public Radio. Other cultivation facilities are expected to harvest in June and July. Two additional cultivation facilities are still being built.

Scott Hardin, a spokesman for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration said, “It can open tomorrow morning if it chooses. We do anticipate it probably will be a little closer to mid-May before they’re actually ready to open their doors.”

The owner of Doctor’s Orders RX, Don Sears, said, “I am pleased that Doctors Orders RX received official approval to open Arkansas’s first licensed medical cannabis dispensary. We will announce our opening date in the coming days, and we fully expect the initial demand for our products to exceed availability. Until cultivation capacity can keep up with demand, we will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis with the limited products currently available. We look forward to finally being able to provide relief to ailing Arkansans across our state.”

The next medical marijuana dispensary that is expected to gain approval to open, also in Hot Springs, is Green Springs Medical.
