Medical marijuana sales began on May 11 in Arkansas, and dispensaries have reported selling 52 pounds of medical marijuana products since then, totaling $353,802 in sales.

In the first week, Arkansas dispensaries made 4,787 total transactions, according to the Springfield News-Leader. Only two dispensaries are operational in the state at the moment. Both dispensaries are in Hot Springs.

Green Springs Medical reports serving about 250 patients on opening day.

Dragan Vicentic, the CEO of Green Springs Medical, said, “With only two dispensaries open, we’re kind of getting everybody from the four corners of the state because we’re centrally located.”

Only one cultivator is operational in the state.

While the state is off to a slow start, progress is being made. More dispensaries and cultivation operations are expected to open soon.

The average price per gram is $15, which is on-par with prices in many other states.

Vicentic said, “This happens in every single state of the 33 states with medical marijuana. The first (cultivator) to market puts a higher price on it because there’s no competition.”
